AFTER PUTTING ENGINE BACK IN WITH A MECHANICAL OIL PRESSURE WITH A COPPER LINE FROM WHERE SENDER HAD BEEN I WAS RUNNING 70 75 PSI HIWAY AND 30 40PSI AT IDLE. I WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMD AND PULLED THE DISTRIBUTOR TWICE.

NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN MY OIL PRESSURE IS ZERO AT IDLE BUT 50 70AT 2500 3000 RPM. WHAT COULD HAVE GONE WRON? I CHANGED THE FILTER NO EFFECT. I PULLED THE DISTRIBUTOR AND DROVE PUMP WITH AN ELECTRIC DRILL AND READ 55PSI AT 2400 RPM. CHANGED GAUGES 20 25PSI AT 900 1000RPM BUT READS NEARLY ZERO AT 600RPM. I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PULL THE ENGING AGAIN. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I see a correction and an addition that needs to be added. A rod insert at first stage of failure makes a loud knocking noise slightly after warm up or all the time . If the crank is damaged, replace it and the inserts. a re ground crank kit for a V 8 Ford GM or Chrysler will cost less than 300 bucks. Labor is a different story. A do it yourselfer could save a lot of money.
